Privacy Awareness

The goal of this research and webpage is to elicit awareness and agency in protecting your private information when sharing images in social networks. The interface will explain how algorithms make profiles about you by collecting data revealing personal information. This research is part of a project entitled "Privacy Awareness", and the project is externally sponsored by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

Participation is entirely voluntary. You can withdraw at any time up to the point of publication and there will be no disadvantage if you decide not to complete the study. All information collected will be confidential, stored securely and permanently deleted after five years. Participants recruited through Prolific will be paid following the Prolific policy.

The results of the questionnaire will be saved in an anonymised form in a Queen Mary University of London server and Amazon Cloud (London region - UK). The questionnaire employs Clarifai (www.clarifai.com) and their Privacy policy is outlined here: www.clarifai.com/company/privacy-policy.
